Research Log

Another 06:00 start. Followed spider monkeys for over an hour this morning before losing them in the swamp. They were back on base this afternoon. The stations manager thinks that they seem to be eating more obscure plants and leaves, because the past month has been dry, and the trees haven't fruited yet.

Animal of the Day

Montezuma Oropendola - Psarocolius montezuma.

These birds are loud and bright, and incredible architects. Everything about them is exquisite. This photo shows their nests hanging in a tree.
