Day 40

Research Log
Day off. I caught a basilisk lizard this morning. It was under my bed. Went into Tortuguero to be a tourist, and get groceries. Then I watched a soccer game between the staff at the two hotels on the canal. Learnt some new spanish words - none of which I can repeat in polite company.

Animal of the Day
Tiger Rat Snake - Spilotes pullatus
I don't know if you can appreciate how beautiful this snake is. It's about a metre long with ebony and ivory colouring. In this picture, the neck is expanded in a threat display. They're not venomous, but they are phenomenal hunters.
