Day 5

Research Log
Started research by 06:00. Found Howlers right away and sat under their tree for four hours in the rain while they napped. The sun came out around 11:00. Also followed Spider monkeys, and a second group of Howlers, and ended the day around 16:00. More data entry. Then, to relax, went kayaking up the canal and saw: anhinga, black vulture, green ibis, belted kingfisher and keel billed toucans. Finished the day with a swim.

Animal of the Day
Strawberry Poison Dart Frog - Dendrobates pumilio
These leaf-litter dwelling frogs are found everywhere along the trails here. They're much smaller than I expected - about the size of a quarter.

  1. Fantastic...I love the frog. Will have to get myself a Cost Rica bird guide.
