Tried a few trail walks today. No monkeys. A new volunteer came today. She's a teacher from Montreal, and she's lovely. Nice to have some new company.
Animal of the Day
Tropical Slider - Chrysemys ornata
I found a hatchling walking along the path to the kitchen. As I was walking to get my camera I found a second one. The shells are beautiful. Apparently the teenage mutant ninja turtles were created from a different species of slider - the red-eared slider. Pretty awesome. Hence these two are named Raphael and Donatello. If I find more I'll call them Michelangelo and Leonardo.
