Day 21

Research Log
Went out this morning and saw Spider monkeys. Then went into town for groceries. On our way Manuel approached us holding an awkward mass at arms length. When he got closer we noticed it was a sloth. He said he found it near the water on the beach. It was beautiful and looked like a wise old ent. Then, when we got back to the station, Alex showed me and Stijn a fer de lance that he found last night. It was awesome!

Animal of the Day
Fer de Lance - Bothrops asper
For being called 'Terciopelo' (velvet) in Spanish, this snake is really quite venomous (but we have an anti venom kit). Wikipedia calls it the "ultimate pit viper". I can understand why. Alex doesn't measure these, but showed us it for interests sake.
